How To Get Yourself Motivated To Take Action

You’ve had this great big dream and it’s SUPER exciting. BUT for whatever reason, you’ve done absolutely nothing about it. And when you look back, you’re in exactly the same spot you were 12 months ago. No closer to your dream and feeling unmotivated as ever.

Maybe you’re saying stuff to yourself like…

I don’t have enough time.

I don’t have the right resources.

I don’t know HOW to do it.

I don’t have enough money.

I’m too stressed.

What if I fail?

And now you’re so stuck in total inaction because you have no idea where to go or how to get this thing started.

So how do you get yourself motivated to actually DO something about your dream? 

I’ve worked with a lot of people from different walks of life, but when it comes down to it, there’s only one thing that stops us from moving forward. FEAR.

FEAR is simply an association with pain. If we think that moving towards our dreams will be more painful than if we stay where we are, inevitably we won’t do anything! 

All of those things I mentioned above are simply ‘a way out’ from taking back our true inner power and making the changes that we know we need to create the life we really want.

If we start to reframe our dreams by shining a light on all the benefits, pleasure and positive meaning we’ll get out of it we can start to shift into a more positive mind frame. Then we can start taking action because we KNOW that it will lead to a greater life! Instead of saying that we don’t know how to do it, we’ll start to go in search of all the ways we can!

Here’s a few tips that I’d like to share with you to get you unstuck;

1. Figure out what your greater vision for your life is.

When you look ahead to your future, what do you see?

Can you see a better life for yourself?

Is your future looking amazing, exciting, inspiring?

Or does it look bleak, depressing and completely unmotivating?

I ask this because it’s REALLY important. Your goals and dreams are your vision for your future. It’s the reality that you are creating TODAY that will bring about the vision you see for yourself tomorrow.

This vision is what will make you bounce out of bed in the morning.

This vision is what you work each day to get closer to.

And this vision is an important driving force to get you where you want to be instead of staying where you are right now.

2. What will happen if you don’t take action?

We can also be driven by trying to avoid our life remaining exactly as it is.

Are you at a point in your life that you just can’t stay in the same place any longer?

Maybe, there’s too much pain, too much sadness, lack of fulfillment, physical or emotional stress that you’re now sick of it?

Whenever you start to feel scared of taking a step towards your dream, remember WHY you are making the shift in the first place.

Think about what your life will stay like if you don’t make a change today!

What will it cost you and your life if you DON’T take action?

3. What’s the worst that can happen?

Often, inaction is a result of the fear of failure. And failure is the worst possible thing that could happen right? Or is it?

Think about your dream. Think about the worst thing that could possibly happen if you tried and it didn’t work out.

Is it really that bad?

Is it really something that you wouldn’t be able to handle?

And if the worst did happen, what steps could you take to solve it?

By going through the worst possible scenario and realising that you CAN survive it and in actual fact, it wouldn’t be THAT bad…you realise that there is nothing to fear.

In accepting that you would be able to handle even the worst scenario, you remove the fear of failure from the equation. It will leave you feeling much more empowered and confident in moving forward and TAKING ACTION!
