Are you frustrated because you are dying to move forward with your dream, passion and purpose but you don’t know how when you’ve got a mortgage or rent and bills to pay?
I hear this from pretty much everyone that I work with, so don’t worry you’re not alone!
And I’ve been there too, so I know exactly what you’re going through right now.
When I was preparing to go to Hollywood, I didn’t have a ton of money. But I was so determined to go that I SAVED for it! And I’ve been to and from LA over 7 times in the last few years but money has never stopped me from pursuing my dreams. I was so focused on getting there that whenever I was back in my home town, I took a temp assignment and saved my little bum off so that I would have enough money to live in LA for at least another 3 month stint each time.
A few years ago when I first started my business and I didn’t have any revenue coming in yet, I still had to work part-time to make sure I could live comfortably. But then I also put aside a small amount of money to get some more business training. Although I had a lot of experience in marketing and communications, I wasn’t exactly sure how to get a business (specifically online business) off the ground, so I found a business coach that offered a program that cost around $200. I invested in that and spent my time learning and DOING the strategies in the program. I also continued to do my own FREE training and education outside by watching YouTube videos and reading about the people I admired as much as I could.
Most likely if you’re here, you are ready to start a new career path or are in the middle of transitioning right now. I know it’s scary and confusing and you’re wondering how the heck you’re going to be able to do it – but trust me, I’m positive that if you are committed and are willing to do the work, you CAN live your dream life too!
So here are my tips to start living your dream even when you don’t have any money!
1. DECIDE TO STEP INTO YOUR DREAM FULLY
Now this is actually one of the biggest blocks that people come to me with. They have an idea of what they want to do, in fact, they already know what they want to do, but they find a million and one different reasons why it’s difficult to actually go out and do it.
I’ve heard it all from;
I dont’ have enough money.
I don’t have enough time.
I’m too stressed.
I don’t have a good enough reputation yet.
Yadda, yadda, yadda.
I know it’s difficult especially if you’re working a full-time job whilst you’re trying to step into your new path – but that doesn’t mean that it’s NOT possible.
I’ve heard myself use lines like this before, with other things like going to the gym or doing that thing that I’ve been putting off for weeks. My point is, it’s all just resistance. And when we’re going through any change in our lives no matter what area that is, resistance will come up – that’s normal!
Now it’s all about what we do with it that counts. Staying in that mindset of ‘I don’t have…’, keeps us stuck in a place of inaction. If you think about it, not having enough money, time or whatever else is fixable. If you don’t have enough money right now, you can save a bit until you do or if you don’t have enough time, you just need to carve out some time in your week to dedicate to working on your dream. What can you do today that will help you bust through your resistance?
2. MAKE YOUR DREAM A PRIORITY
So many times when we think we don’t have enough money to follow our dream it’s actually because we’re not making it a priority in our lives. If you are COMMITTED to paving a new life for yourself and you make it your top priority, you WILL do what it takes to take the next step forward. It’s time to re-evaluate what is important to you and start investing your time and energy to those things!
3. GET FREE TRAINING
There are so many resources out there nowadays and you can learn a shit ton of stuff for free! The benefit of the internet has now allowed us to connect to experts in our fields, read about their journey and learn from them.
If you’re like me and love learning through videos, just search YouTube for the inspiration you need.
Look around for a mentor who has done what you want to do or who can give you the tools to get from where you are right now, to where you want to go. Most of the time, they’ll have a website with blog posts and guides you can get for free.
Have you overcome not having enough money to pursue your dream?
